Bunded Tanks

Totally enclosed bunded tanks are secure units, with all fill points contained within a lockable fill cabinet. These tanks come with a lockable bund hatch as standard and with the option of a pump house, complete with roller shutter door. These units can be supplied with pumps, flow meters and auto shut off nozzles on request. All tanks are pressure tested prior to dispatch. They can have top of bottom outlets, with a manual shut off valve accessible through bund hatch. There is less site preparation and no need to build a concrete bund or support walls. The tanks must be positioned on a solid level concrete base.

Our Fuel Storage Tanks are manufactured to BS799 Part 5, and pressure tested to 0.7 bar. All welding is carried out by a coded welder to BS4872. The primary oil tank is contained within its own bunded area, with a capacity greater than 110%.

Bunded tanks are also available for the storage of biofuels, biodiesel, PPO and E85.

Underground Tanks

Double skin underground storage tanks have an internal shell manufactured from 6mm steel, and an external shell manufactured from 4mm steel. The dished ends are 6mm thick. They are supplied with DSA 3-suction 600mm diameter man-lid with double tapered sockets and malleable iron plugs.

Also available as standard is a 1.2m2 access chamber frame, nylon ratchet holding down straps, brass calibrated dip rod, lifting lugs and a polypropylene glycol and water mix in the interstitial space between the two skins.

The standard paint finish for double skin underground storage tanks is black bitumen, with the option of polyurethane or two-coat epoxy. A heavy-duty ground level manhole cover and frame (760mm x 610mm) and multi-compartment tanks are available as optional extras. A LAG14er leak detection system kit is also available if required.

The EU Parliament has issued stricter emission standards (EURO 4 in 2006, EURO 5 in 2008) for heavy duty diesel engines. AdBlue is the trade name for an aqueous solution of urea (32.5%). This reducing agent converts harmful nitrogen oxides into innocuous nitrogen and water. Since AdBlue is corrosive, certain materials are required for its handling and storage. Recommendations for these materials have been made by CEFIC (European Chemical Industry Council) according to DIN 70 070.

To meet these EU regulations, the automobile industry has decided to introduce SCR technology for diesel powered heavy goods vehicles. SCR is the abbreviation for Selective Catalytic Reduction, and refers to the catalytic conversion of harmful exhaust gases into naturally occurring substances.
